i-Mark is a unique line of metal service plates, tags, and labels with a special coating that permanently absorbs permanent marker ink. Technicians write directly on the tag in the field: voltage, measurements, inspection data, signatures.
Most metal tags look professional but cannot be written on in the field. Standard marker wipes off metal surfaces within days. i-Mark solves this with a proprietary surface coating that chemically bonds with permanent marker ink the moment it is applied. A technician can write any value, voltage, power rating, inspection date, measurement, or signature directly onto the tag using a regular permanent marker, and that marking becomes a permanent part of the tag. It will not smear, fade, or wash off.
i-Mark tags are used wherever a technician or engineer needs to record variable data in the field without special equipment. Common applications include:
i-Mark tags are available in two substrate options: aluminum .025 and Flexy-Foil, and can be supplied in silver, white, or gold finish with optional CMYK digital print. Tags can be pre-printed with your logo, QR codes, barcodes, serial numbers or any fixed data, leaving designated write-on areas for field use. For extreme outdoor or chemical environments, anodized aluminum with special i-Mark treatment is available.

Can I use any permanent marker? Yes. Any standard permanent marker works with i-Mark coating. The special surface absorbs the ink permanently regardless of brand.
Can i-Mark tags also have pre-printed content? Yes. Tags can be pre-printed with your logo, QR codes, barcodes, serial numbers or any fixed information, with designated blank areas left for field writing.
Are i-Mark tags suitable for outdoor use? Yes. For extreme outdoor or chemical environments, we recommend anodized aluminum with i-Mark treatment, which provides maximum durability.
What attachment options are available? Tags are available with 3M 468 high-bond adhesive backing or pre-drilled holes for screw or rivet attachment.
